On April 3rd, the Vietnam-Sri Lanka Friendship Association, in coordination with the Sri Lankan Embassy in Vietnam, organized a visit and working program for the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka to Vietnam, Poshitha Perera, in Bac Ninh province.
Receiving the delegation, Mr. Mai Son, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province, assessed that the visit contributed to strengthening political trust, promoting people-to-people exchanges, and expanding cooperation between Bac Ninh province and its Sri Lankan partners.
Mr. Mai Son stated that Bac Ninh is a land rich in historical and cultural traditions, and also one of the leading Buddhist centers in Vietnam. Its abundant heritage sites, including many UNESCO-listed sites, along with unique cultural values such as Dong Ho folk paintings, provide a foundation for the development of cultural and spiritual tourism .
Bac Ninh also boasts a high rate of economic development, a favorable investment environment, and a high-quality workforce, providing a foundation for expanding international cooperation, including with Sri Lanka.
Based on similarities in culture, religion, and history, especially the connection within Buddhism, Mr. Mai Son expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation with Sri Lanka in the fields of investment, trade, cultural exchange, and spiritual tourism development; and requested the Ambassador to continue acting as a bridge to promote cooperation between agencies, organizations, and businesses of both sides.
Ambassador Positha Perera expressed her admiration for Bac Ninh's development achievements, stating that the visit helped the delegation better understand the socio-economic potential and distinctive cultural values of the locality, especially its Buddhist cultural space.
The ambassador emphasized that the Sri Lanka-Vietnam relationship has a long-standing foundation, with Buddhism being an important connecting thread. Cooperation in Buddhist education and cultural exchange has yielded many positive results in recent years, contributing to strengthening the friendship between the two countries.
During the working trip, the delegation visited Phat Tich Pagoda and Dong Ho folk painting village, learning about the traditional cultural life and the work of preserving and promoting the value of the local heritage.
